Meridia: the Untamed

A faction from my upcoming user-made content project for the Battle for Wesnoth www.wesnoth.org , which will be called the Battle for Meridia.

These insular elves inhabit the forests of the east, both the rainforests and the temperate ones on the slopes of the mountains. They tend to keep themselves to themselves, unless they are crossed, but the things which trigger their ire are at the best of times unclear. Nobody knows for sure what the Untamed call themselves except for them, and they never speak of such matters with outsiders. They are notoriously xenophobic at the best of times, but when the jungles and forests of their homeland are threatened, they become positively vicious. All the Untamed are born with a connection to a form of magic they call the Bestia. It grants them the ability to read and control animals and, to an extent, plants. But the Bestia is not without its perils – misuse and ill luck can result in an individual losing his faculties and degeneration into a feral and animalistic shadow of his former self.

NB: each of the magic-using units in this faction can level into the next level of the Brute/Feral line, but I chose to leave off the arrows, because the image would have gotten WAY too complex.

The content will eventually be released under the GPL, and does contain some small portions of material based on artwork from mainline Wesnoth, as permitted by the license. This is a preview for my dA audience, to show off before I release. The pink, for those not au fait with Wesnoth, is dynamically recolourable by the game, depending on team.

The era will also include the Khalifate faction, but although I have been doing art development for them, the base level 1 sprites were done by someone else, and the concept development was someone else's, so I'm not putting them up here. They're been on the Wesnoth forums for ages anyway.
